Narrative paintings /assemblages & mixed media urban spiritual implements and artifacts
Through her handling of paint, brushes, and found objects, Deborah Singletary fashions stories and scenes depicting the emotional and spiritual lives of colorful people. Her artwork honors her African ancestry and southern and urban roots in America and expresses ideas, issues, and feelings are informed by her search for the feminine aspects of God, an interest in creating new spiritual and/or religious artifacts, and her exploration of the sensual and erotic side of love. In addition to her exhibition career, Deborah facilitates make-art workshops for adults. Her workshops explore the relationship between art, ritual, and worship.
