I create earthy wheel thrown functional tableware.
My intention is to create work for utility, pleasure and symbolic meaning. Form in my work is derived from nature. My driving force is giving honor to the creator who formed what was truly formless. The belief and relationship I have with god shapes my art aesthetic. This relationship has deepened my love, appreciation and respect for nature. I am passionate about relationships. I value the gift of entering and functioning in people lives through my art. Knowing that my work becomes a part of a person's daily life and history is exciting. I hope at best it would bring it's owner joy, pleasure, inspiration and great memories!! It's so important to recognizing the beauty in every day life. We live in a world where it's so easy to get sucked into the negative. My focus is not just what's seen on the surface but the unseen. Everyone is a unique and special creation and I approach my work with that same mind set, giving each piece spontaneous variations. The process and connection between the use of the raw materials: earth, water and fire alone is symbolic and parallels life experience. The ceramic process continues to keep me humble and teachable. When I'm not working in the studio I enjoy baking/cooking, live music and friends.
